Color scrimshaw on ancient mammoth ivory by H. Robichard. Great work by a very talented scrimshander. We left the outer bark of this very thick piece of mammoth ivory intact in order to create a frame for the work. The scrimshander was inspired by the natural blue tones in the outer bark and incorporated them into this gem. Really like the peering cubs, especially the one in the rear. The expression of the mother is just perfect. The more you look at this the more you come to love it. Very well done, indeed.
