Original oil painting on canvas by New Zealand artist Paul Deacon portraying the Hermione. The Hermione was a 12-pounder Concorde class frigate of the French Navy. She became famous when she ferried General Lafayette to the United States in 1780 for support to the Americans in the American Revolutionary War. At 145' long, she carried 32 guns, 26 12-pounder long guns, as well as 6 six-pounder long guns. A replica has recently been constructed in France and visited the U.S. Deacon has portrayed the famous vessel under full sail. Note the crew on the deck as well as seamen high up in the masts. Simply amazing work at this price. Not is the time to add this up and coming maritime artist to your collection.
