L.A. Dunton

$450.00

John Mecray brings us dramatically close to the 123 foot fishing schooner L.A. Dunton as she lifts to an ocean swell and shudders in the wind shadow of the ocean liner Leviathan. The Dunton was launched in 1921, the same year the Leviathan underwent an extensive refit after seeing service as a troop ship during WW1. The meeting is conjecture but it beautifully symbolizes the passing of a colorful era. The great liner moves off into the mist and now is gone but the Dunton, bathed in sunlight, survives and after 75 years can still be seen at her berth at Mystic Seaport.
