Boreas In The West Indies March 1787

$350.00$650.00

The 28-gun frigate Boreas, an early command in the West Indies, came close to ruining Nelson’s career. Keeping to the letter of the Navigation Act, he found the Islanders of Nevis suing him for 40,000 Pound, something of a problem for a mean whose full pay was 260 Pounds a year! However, he was later vindicated and the same island also provided him with a wife, Fanny. Nelson at least enjoyed some fair weather passages on Boreas, as the painting shows.
